      Trim Pieces Removed
The first thing you will need to do when removing a factory hard top from your Bronco is determining whether you have the factory trim pieces installed and in tact. If so, you will need to remove these trim pieces to gain access to the hard top fasteners. Using a small flathead screwdriver, pry up on the small circular plastic covers that hide the trim screws. Once removed, you will gain access to the trim screws, which can be removed using a standard phillips screwdriver. After all screws are out, gently pry up on the individual trim pieces to loosen them from there mounts.

Tamper Proof Bolts on 1992+ Broncos.
Once you've removed all trim pieces, you should now be able to see the Hard Top fasteners. There will be a total of 15 Bolts to be removed. 3 along the top, 1 on each pillar, 3 on each side, and 2 in each rear corner. *NOTE* The rear corner bolts can sometimes be rusty and hard to turn, especcially if your top has never come off. Caution must be used, as the Safety Torx drivers are CHEAP and will bend. I have found that the compartment under the rear armrests come very much in handy to store your bolts, and tools to take the top off. You'll need a T-40 driver for these bolts, as shown. (For 1991 and under, you will need your 1/2" socket for these bolts)

You are not ready just yet! If your Bronco is 1992 or newer, you must unplug the harness which connects your third brake light, this harness is located in the driver's side rear corner, and can sometimes be found tucked behind the trim panel. This harness is simply a plug. You must also remove the seat belts where they attach to the hard top, using the T50 Torx driver, as shown.

You are now ready to begin removal of the fiberglass top. Be sure to roll down your tailgate window at this time. You will need help removing the top, it is very heavy. You will not be able to slide the top straight off. You will have to lift the front part of the top, as you slide it initially, to clear it from the alignment pins in the top front roof section. Also, watch the alignment pins in the rear corners on each side of the top. You may now begin to slide the hard top back until the weight becomes unbalanced, at which point you will need to begin to lift and remove the top. Be careful to avoid scratching the paint on your truck, and also be careful to not drop the hardtop. The fiberglass can and will crack if not handled properly.
Now you're free to go! Enjoy!
Installation is reverse of removal. Make sure the top is centered with the alignment pins, and securely in the lip on the front roof section. You'll have no leaks.
