How to Hotwire a Ford Pickup

Maybe you forgot your keys. Whatever the reason, following these steps will help you get a Ford pickup truck started.

  • Screw driver
  • Hammer
  • 2 pieces of wire, 3 inches long

      Loosen ring in the ignition switch with hammer and screw driver.

      Pull ignition switch out of the dash. Unplug the switch.

      Look at the back of the plug and find the main hot wire; normally it is one of the bigger wires, commonly red or black with a yellow or green stripe. Put the two wires in one of the holes. Make sure it is a hot wire.

      Touch one of the two wires to another one of the wires in the plug. You are looking for the one that cranks the motor over.

      Now that you have found the one that cranks it while cranking the engine take the second wire and touch it to another one of the wires in the plug until the engine starts. When it starts, unplug the wire that cranked the motor over. Now you are on your way.
